My first day at IPGKPI

My first day at IPGKPI

It was my dream since i was a kid and I never thought it will become a reality one day. The dream that I will make my parents prouds of me. Though it was a little bit late for me to achieve this dream, but i still gratefull with all the things happened.  'Allah is the best planners', the sentence that i would never doubt in my life. The first day at Institut Pendidikan Guru is a momentous occasion that marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life. It is a day filled with excitement, nervousness, and a sense of anticipation for the journey that lies ahead. In this writing I will tell you a story about my first day at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Pendidikan Islam (IPGKPI) that was an unforgettable experience, marked by a mixture of emotions and the prospect of new opportunities.

As I was arrived at IPGKPI with my family, we were asked to go at Nik Muhyideen’s Hall for registration. On my way to the hall, i met a lot of new students who also registered on that day. We got know each other and have a brief talk about our background. They all were so nice and very sociable. And some of them came from the same state as i am. I was very excited. After the long waiting, it was finally my turn. I hand over all the documents that I’ve prepared way before the registration. And what made me shocked and suprised is when i found out that the one who manage my registration was actually my mentee. At the beginning i just thought of him as an ordinary lecturer. However, after I was told to take the mentee's guarantor's signature, it turned out that he was my mentee.

After finishing the registration session, we were told to leave the hall and move to our respective residential colleges. We have been given keys that already assigned to all students. Each room will be share by two students. Without wasting any time, my family and I moved to the residential college by a car because it was quite far from the hall. The name of my residential college is Block B which is also known as Ibnu Khaldun’s Block. When I got there, I continued to lift the things that I brought from my house into the room that had been told. I felt a bit disappointed when I was told that parents were not allowed to enter the residential colleges. Furthermore, even though that I was told that there will be seniors who will help students in lifting things into the room, but none of them came to help me. After finished lifting things into the room according to the assigned key, I just realised that the key for the room that was given was a different than it should have been. After asking the seniors, they changed the key and gave me a new one. Once again I felt disappointed when I had to lift all the things without any help of seniors. It was very tiring experience.

After that, we were moving back to the Nik Muhyideen’s Hall to listen the director of IPKPI’s speech. When we got there, the hall was filled by hundreds of students and parents. We had a trouble finding a seat but many seniors came and help us to find an empty seat to sit. We listened to the director's very enthusiastic speech. He then officiated the entrance ceremony for new students to IPGKPI. After the end of opening ceremony, it was one of the saddest moments in my life. As a person that never lived apart from my family, starting a new life alone in a new place, with unknown people, and in a new environment is not easy. Everyone who ever goes through it will have the same feels.

After saying goodbye to my family, I decided to walk around IPGKPI, I began the charming walk around the campus, enjoying the sights and sounds of my new home. The evening sun illuminates the vibrant surroundings as I explore the towering academic buildings, green lawns and student hub. Navigating through the library and student union, I discovered that various opportunities have been offered at here, from the academic resources to the extracurricular activities. As the day moving, the campus changes, revealing a different charm under the ambient lighting. An evening walk provides a calm and contemplative atmosphere, marking the transition from the dynamic activities from the registration session to a quieter and more reflective moment. Overall, a walk around the university on that first day revealed a multifaceted environment full of possibilities for academic, social and personal growth.

After finished walking around the campus, the students were called to the Nik Muhyideen’s hall to start the orientation program. This program will last for 5 consecutive days. Orientation day offers numerous opportunities for students to meet and interact with their fellow classmates and other students. Icebreaker activities, group discussions, and team-building exercises foster a sense of community and camaraderie. Social integration is crucial for creating a supportive network, which can be instrumental in overcoming the challenges that may arise during the university journey. Throughout this activity I have met many new friends from different state including my best friend hakimi. This program is one of those programs that I will never forget in my life.

The end of my first day at campus brought with it a sense of excitement and new discovery. As I wrapped up my first day, I felt a sense of anticipation for the days and years to come. The IPGKPI, now is more than just a collection of buildings, it had become a place where my friendships would flourish and a place to learning something new.The first day had set the stage for a transformative university experience that promising a rich tapestry of academic, social, and personal pursuits. With a full of excitement and a mind buzzing with possibilities, I eagerly looked forward to the adventure that lay ahead in this newfound academic life.
